The German solar company hep announces the successful acquisition of a 100-MW portfolio of photovoltaic projects from the project developer Nebo Solar in Poland. With a portfolio of 16 projects across Poland, hep is entering one of Europe’s strongest solar markets. Nebo Solar, which has a one-gigawatt (GW) pipeline under development in Poland, will complete the development of the projects to construction-ready status under a development services agreement. Osborne Clarke and DNV, leading international legal and technical advisors with a presence in Poland, advised hep on this transaction.

Polish solar market holds great potential
Poland is the third-largest solar market in Europe, with 4.9 GW of newly installed capacity in 2022. Thanks to a favorable regulatory framework, Poland has become one of the fastest-growing solar markets in Europe. Since energy generation still relies heavily on conventional sources such as carbon-intensive coal, there is significant potential and a great need for renewable energy to help decarbonize Poland’s energy system.
The European industry organization SolarPower Europe expects an additional 17.5 GW to be installed in the Polish solar market by 2026.
A European milestone for the experienced solar company hep
Since 2008, the hep Group has built up a pipeline of over 5 GW of solar projects in the U.S., Canadian, Japanese, and German solar markets. “Entering the Polish market is a significant milestone for us, and we are excited about the opportunity to play an active role in the growth of the photovoltaic sector in Poland,” says Oleksandr Iakhnii, Director of M&A at hep.
About hep: Promoting the global energy transition
In addition to covering the entire lifecycle of a photovoltaic system, hep’s Investments division also handles project financing. From identifying greenfield sites to the long-term operation of a solar plant, hep offers all the products and services necessary for successful project implementation at every stage of a solar project—namely, project development, construction, and operation. Responsible Investing with hep
hep offers investors the opportunity to invest directly in climate protection funds. In addition to customized solutions for large-scale investors, hep also enables institutional and private investors to invest in the world’s largest solar markets: the U.S., Japan, Germany, Canada, and now Poland as well.
