hep solar is expanding its presence in Europe with its entry into the Italian market

The international solar specialist hep solar is expanding its operations in Europe and is now entering the Italian market. This means that the Güglingen-based company is now active in another strategically important European market, in addition to Germany and Poland. hep solar plans to build a pipeline of 400 to 500 MWp in solar and energy storage projects in Italy over the next two years. The first sites and projects have already been secured for this purpose.

“By entering the Italian market, we are consistently pursuing our strategy of placing a stronger focus on the European market,” explains Martin Vogt, Global Head of Project Development at hep solar. “Italy is one of the most dynamic solar markets in Europe—with ambitious expansion targets and high demand for photovoltaic and storage solutions. For hep solar, this not only offers the opportunity to expand our presence in Europe but also represents an important step toward the geographic diversification of our project portfolio.”

Italy is currently the fourth-largest solar market in the EU and is pursuing ambitious goals in the areas of photovoltaics and energy storage systems, known as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). By 2024, the country had reached an installed solar capacity of 36 GW. By 2030, photovoltaics are expected to account for more than half of the renewable electricity generation capacity, with 79 GW. Demand is driven primarily by high electricity prices, the desire for energy independence, and government subsidies such as feed-in tariffs, renewable energy certificates, and tax incentives.
